Doran Edwards (b. 1983, England; currently living in Bristol) is an artist using photography and sound to explore the relationship between the body, intuition and everyday life, to sink deep into the areas of human experience that words cannot reach.
Owing to his background in composition and sound art, he naturally approaches photography like music for the eyes, attempting to draw-out a purity of atmosphere, or mood, over any clear subject, and allow meaning to arise as its own outcome.
This sensory predominance is also a necessity of ongoing recovery from the onset of chronic fatigue syndrome in 2018. Through the daily practice of mindfulness, Edwards began to discover a healing relationship with his body that continues to direct his practice.
His works have been featured on British Airways, MTV, BBC Radio, XFM, Resonance FM, American College Radio, as well as touring with artists such as Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, and The War on Drugs. He has performed and exhibited as part of the Dulwich Picture Gallery Harald Sohlberg retrospective, Festival Classicos Alcala, and at Café Oto with David Toop and Unknown Devices.
He is currently studying a masters in Photography at UWE having completed a BA in Sound Art at LCC in 2020.
